Perhaps not new to folk, but certainly quite wizzy music community/

jarvis cocker, genius.
this from his press statement about curating meltdown at the south
bank this year:
”Cunts may be running the world but a cock will be controlling the
South Bank for one week in June. Jarvis Branson Cocker is honoured,
proud and excited to announce that he will be curating this year’s
Meltdown Festival. Your cultural life is in my hands. I can’t wait.”
Oh dear.

The thing that puzzles me in all of this is that omnipotent beings
are, well, omnipotent. So why all this faffing about with images in
pieces of toast, carrots, and clouds? You’d almost think humans have
an innate evolved ability to recognise faces….
Oh, and on the subject of using such powers appropriately, it seems
figs aren’t to be tolerated either:

The buttons available in some locations were quite funky. Plenty to
keep you amused, although interwoven with the peril that pressing the
wrong one could bring…. If only I’d know *quite* how perilous it was.
There’s still a long way to go in some parts – particularly public
facilities – in Japan though. Think French motorway lay-bys, and
you’ll know what I mean…

This might hit a bit of a chord with some on the list. I’d probably
be along there myself if I wasn’t 400 miles away:

Getting Neil’s email on the hamster powered shredder reminded me of a
great little shortcut I added to Mail yesterday which I’ll mention
for the benefit of people using a mac.
It basically gives a key combination to shrink url’s down so they
don’t get cut in half.
First off, go here and download tinyurl.com/2eevg7
Then go here and download tinyurl.com/2lzkcb
Install both of them and follow instructions.
Once done and you can see the Shrink URL services in the menu, open
‘Service Scrubber’ and change ‘Shrink URL and Copy to Clipboard’
shortcut to shift-apple-Y (there’s no default for this service and
the ‘T’ conflicts with Mail’s formatting shortcut)
Save and exit scrubber.
In mail, when composing a message, you can now highlight a URL do the
key combo and shrink it down to a lovely small tinyurl which won’t be
chopped like a little hamster in a shredder.
Hope this helps someone.
