Nut jobs

Filed under: General — richard @ 10:00 am

It always amuses me that the religious get so very very worked and
hot under the collar about the sex lives of OTHER PEOPLE. It makes me
very suspicious. But then, I’m suspicious about them anyway.
Unfortunately, there are some that go a step further and (ab)use
their positions of power and trust with such complete bunk, that you
just know is going to cost lives.

Good job there aren’t any politicians like that. Oh, wait.

*sob*
At least I’ve got the Christopher Hitchens book “God is not Great:
How religion poisons everything” to console myself with at the
moment. Interesting the subtitle in the UK differs, and is a rather
bland “The case against religion”. Would have thought it’d be the
other way around.

shardcore art show in brighton

Filed under: General — shardcore @ 2:00 pm

I’ve just finished hanging my show in a restaurant in Brighton – it
features some portraits of a few familiar faces…

I’m on the walls until the end of November, perhaps a little longer,
so if you fancy some fine art by the sea, come on down…

UK iPhone

Filed under: General — richard @ 12:30 pm

No doubt everybody here has heard the news that the iPhone is coming
to the UK in early November.
www.engadget.com/2007/09/18/hands-on-with-the-o2-iphone/
Now just wondering whether anybody else on the list is tempted? £269
for the device, plus £35/month for 18 months.
Lots of websites are bemoaning the lack of 3G, poor EDGE coverage,
but have to say 3G is not a technology I’m overly excited about, and
the deal with The Cloud sounds quite good given they’re quite
prevalent (including my local coffee shop where it’s likely to matter
most ;-) .
User interface on phones and (shock!) battery life (ala His
Steviness’ comments re why no 3G) counts for a lot for me (I’ve lost
so much of my life battling with crap phones), so certainly tempted.
If only I had a way of checking O2’s signal strength at home…
